For over 30 years, Garex has been supporting professionals in designing high-value residential and commercial environments. Today, we’re taking a new step by becoming the first garage door manufacturer to make our textures available as 3D files. This innovation simplifies the integration of our products right from the earliest stages of design. With the ability to download 3D garage door textures, professionals can now access realistic materials that bring their projects to life. Through this initiative, every project can benefit from a faithful representation of materials from the earliest design stages, improving communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders.

An Enhanced Design Experience

With the new Garex 3D garage door files, architects, and designers can now integrate our doors directly into their plans with striking realism. These digital models allow for highly accurate plans to be created in record time while freely exploring colors, finishes, and styles through interactive 3D textures. This advancement transforms the design process into a faster, more flexible, and more inspiring experience, ensuring flawless visual quality at every stage of the project.

Difference Between a BIM and a 3D Texture

A BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a complete and intelligent building model. It includes the 3D representation of elements such as doors, walls, and windows, as well as all the associated technical data: materials, thermal performance, exact dimensions, costs, standards, and more. Each BIM project relies on RFA (Revit Family) files—essential components such as windows or doors (available directly on our architect page) or any other architectural element. BIM therefore encompasses the entire process: planning, construction, and building management throughout its lifecycle.

Unlike a BIM, a 3D texture does not contain technical data; it only represents the visual appearance of a material applied to a surface. It realistically simulates the exact colors of steel, lighting effects, and surface textures. Its primary purpose is to create realistic renderings efficiently, helping designers visualize the aesthetics of an element and produce convincing images or animations for presentation or marketing purposes

Visual Fidelity in Every Detail

The new 3D files also allow us to more accurately represent the steel texture colors of our garage doors. Lightbeans has also developed a specific opacity file for garage door windows, making it possible to realistically visualize our Full View doors or to add realistic windows to steel garage doors. This file can be imported into 3D software to display glass transparency.

Compatibility with Industry Tools

All our garage doors can now be integrated into professionals’ 3D models. These files are compatible with a wide range of industry software, including SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Rhino, Enscape, V-Ray, and Lumion.

This broad compatibility allows professionals to switch between platforms seamlessly, ensuring smooth integration within existing workflows and eliminating the need for time-consuming file conversions.

A Strategic Approach to Bringing Garex Closer to the Professional Community

At Garex, innovation extends beyond the physical product. Adding our textures to Lightbeans is part of a broader strategy to support architects and designers throughout their design process.

This collaboration now allows architects to integrate Canadian-made garage doors recognized for their quality, aesthetics, and perfect alignment with modern construction needs—ideal for meeting the concrete demands of today’s homes and buildings.
In our ongoing commitment to innovation and collaboration, we go beyond market standards by providing tools designed to simplify professionals’ work. We therefore offer:
